Lake Delton and Wisconsin Dells, 2008
Lake Delton is a man-made lake situated next to Wisconsin Dells, a popular tourist destination that is promoted to be the “water park capital of the world.” The lake was built in the 1920’s to promote tourism in the area and is currently surrounded by summer homes and small resorts. During heavy flooding this past June, a section of road that bordered the lake collapsed, draining the water into the adjacent river. A few months later the basin remains mostly empty as the village of Lake Delton waits for the body of water to be refilled by next summer.
